The construction site of Plaza Rakyat (pictured in February 2007) has seen little activity since the project was stalled in 1997.

General information

Location:  
Pudu Road
, central Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Scope: To built 79 story building for office, residential and leisure with 157 rooms of budget hotel and 1,600 parking lots.

Time:  1996 until now (On hold and possibly canceled)

Cost: RM419.999 juta up to 1.4 billion.

Quality: Construction as a skyscraper with postmodern design

Constrain: The government has decided to terminate the deal with the current developer of Plaza Rakyat following failed negotiations and an overshot deadline to revive the project.

Delay Factor:
a.                  World economic crisis 1999.
b.                  Contractors don’t get enough funds to run the project.
c.                  Crisis between the owner and the contractors.
d.                  Delayed court cases.
